At Lloyd & Paul Home Luxuries, we pride ourselves on working with the world’s most esteemed names in home fragrance. Recently, we had the privilege of visiting the Trudon factory in Normandy, France—an unforgettable journey into the history, craftsmanship, and artistry behind the world’s oldest candle company.
A Legacy Since 1643

Founded in 1643, Trudon has an extraordinary heritage as the oldest candlemaker in the world. From supplying candles to the royal court of Louis XIV to illuminating churches, palaces, and historic French landmarks, Trudon’s history is deeply woven into the fabric of French culture. Hearing their story at the very place where this legacy continues today was both humbling and inspiring.

Inside the Factory
Our tour of the Trudon factory revealed a fascinating blend of tradition and artistry. Much of the process remains beautifully hands-on, with artisans carrying out tasks passed down through generations.

We witnessed:
-
The crafting of Trudon’s iconic busts, each a masterpiece of detail.
-
The making of pillar and taper candles, with skilled artisans hand-pouring wax, centering wicks, and shaping candles to perfection.
-
The creation of the brand’s largest statement candles, crafted with care and precision.

It was remarkable to see how many aspects of candle-making are still done by hand, a testament to Trudon’s dedication to authenticity and quality.
Behind the Scents: The Laboratory
We were also given exclusive access to the Trudon laboratory, where candles undergo rigorous testing. Here, artistry meets science as every fragrance is perfected to ensure it captures the elegance, richness, and balance that Trudon is renowned for.
True Craftsmanship
The entire experience highlighted the heart of Trudon: craftsmanship, tradition, and scent artistry. Every candle tells a story, carrying centuries of expertise in every flicker of flame and waft of fragrance.

Proud to Be Partners
It was a true honour to walk through the Trudon factory and learn more about the people and processes that bring these exquisite candles to life. At Lloyd & Paul Home Luxuries, we are proud to be an authorised reseller of Trudon, sharing with you not only their candles but also the history, artistry, and beauty they represent.
